The Senior Communications Specialist develops and executes integrated internal and external communication strategies that support business objectives, associate engagement, organizational change, and Johnstone Supply’s culture and reputation. The role advises leaders, leads complex multichannel initiatives, and creates clear, compelling content for diverse audiences.

Essential Job Results:

• Partners with leaders and cross-functional teams to understand business and audience needs, align stakeholders, develop strategic communication plans, and advise on messaging, channels, timing, sequencing, risks, and progress.
• Leads complex, multichannel communication projects from strategy through execution, managing priorities, timelines, dependencies, approvals, editorial calendars, campaign plans, communication schedules, and quality.
• Develops and delivers clear, compelling communications for diverse internal and external audiences across appropriate channels, including intranet, email, newsletters, presentations, talking points, signage, video, web, and print materials.
• Translates complex business information into audience-focused messaging that is inspirational, influential, informational, and aligned with company brand, values, and objectives.
• Develops data-informed communications and channel strategies that improve reach and relevance for associates across multiple states and in corporate, distribution, and field-based roles.
• Ensures communications meet standards for grammar, brand consistency, accessibility, accuracy, and quality.
• Develops high-visibility communications for executives and leaders, including announcements, presentations, talking points, scripts, articles, and organization-wide messages, and advises on message development, delivery, audience considerations, and impact.
• Supports external and reputation-focused communications, including press releases, media statements, web content, and stakeholder materials, as business needs require.
• Establishes objectives and success measures for communication plans and campaigns; analyzes engagement data, results, and associate feedback; and recommends improvements.
• Monitors industry developments, emerging communication practices, and channel trends and recommends relevant improvements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Ccommunications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, internal or associate communications, public relations, or a related field.
• Significant experience developing and executing multichannel communication strategies for geographically dispersed and diverse internal audiences, including collaboration with senior leaders and cross-functional partners, during periods of growth, transformation, or change.
• Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, verbal communication, presentation, organizational, and project management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
• Experience with content management systems, intranet platforms, digital communication channels, video content, and communication analytics tools.
